As a charitable trust, Wellington Zoo can’t do any of its valuable work without your support. Our aim is to become the best little zoo in the world and with your help we can make it happen.
Wellington Zoo cares for over 500 animals, 365 days a year. We’re involved in conservation projects inside and outside the Zoo, international breeding programmes and environmental management. Over 227,000 visitors come to the Zoo each year to experience wildlife in the middle of the city, and more than 11,000 students visit us each year to learn about the natural world.
We have reached the end of the Zoo's ten year Zoo Capital Programme (the ZCP), and have extensively renovated the Zoo over the last ten years. This redevelopment programme has produced The Nest Te Kōhanga – Wellington Zoo’s state-of-the-art animal hospital and centre for native wildlife – along with improving animal housing, staff facilities and visitor experience. The final major phase of the ZCP is our New Zealand precinct, Meet the Locals. This large space in the Zoo is our love story to New Zealand, and celebrates the unique stories of our native flora and fauna.
Please help Wellington Zoo become the best little zoo in the world and make a donation now. It takes only a couple of minutes and is simple and secure.
You can also make a donation to the Wellington Zoo Conservation Fund, with your money going directly to helping save animals in the wild.
