Come and volunteer at Wellington Zoo and help us become the best little zoo in the world!

We’re looking for volunteers who want to spend their time at Wellington Zoo making sure our visitors have a great time.  Helping with events, dressing up in costumes and getting kids involved with fun activities are all part of a volunteer’s day, as well as helping out wherever needed.

Great communication skills are a must, as well as a good level of physical fitness, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.

If you are over 18, available at least two days per month and can commit to working with us for at least three months, then we would love to hear from you.

All volunteers must attend:

1. An initial information session;

2. An interview (includes a police check);

3. Orientation training (to prepare you for your role as a volunteer and familiarise you with the Zoo).

The benefits of volunteering are numerous. As a volunteer at Wellington Zoo you’ll gain confidence, stronger interpersonal skills and a sense of fulfilment and achievement; form new friendships and meet a diverse range of people; and challenge your physical fitness by spending your time walking around the Zoo.

Volunteers are very important to us, so get in touch – we look forward to welcoming you to Wellington Zoo!
