Come and volunteer at the Zoo and help us become the best little zoo in the world!
We are looking for volunteers who want to spend their time at Wellington Zoo sharing their passion for animals and conservation with our visitors. Great communication skills are a must, as well as a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.
Our volunteers are out in the Zoo making sure our visitors have a great time. Helping with events, dressing up in costumes , getting kids involved with fun activities are all part of a volunteers day.
If you are over 18, available at least two days per month and can commit to working with us for at least a year, then we would love to hear from you.
Come along and find out more about the volunteering experience at Wellington Zoo. The next volunteer information evening will be in 2013 at the Zoo. Contact us via the links below to register.
All volunteers must complete orientation training before starting volunteering at the Zoo. These are held four times a year. Orientation is designed to prepare you for your role as a Zoo volunteer and familiarise you with Wellington Zoo. The orientation covers three themes:
It is important that you attend all of these sessions. If you are unable to make this orientation, we hold application over for the next training.
Volunteers are very important to us and we look forward to welcoming you to Wellington Zoo.
Corporate volunteering
Get out in the fresh air and get your hands dirty.
Volunteering at Wellington Zoo is a great opportunity for you and your colleagues to contribute to your community. It is also an ideal team building exercise – good for re-energising employees and increasing morale.
We mostly need help with outdoor tasks, such as spreading bark mulch, weeding and planting projects, although we will look at activities suited to the interests and skill set of your team.
