WILD IDEAS: Imagine...

an environment
of animals, plants, and people, where learning is effortless, and caring about nature is paramount

innovative exhibits that combine species for a truly “Close Encounter”

behind the scenes visits to learn how the chimpanzee group settles for the night, about relationships in the group, and about dangers to this species in the wild

children clambering down from their sleepover in the newly refurbished Archibald Centre, and gathering at a learning pod to check out
their ideas with dedicated, knowledgeable keepers

friends and families gathering to hear jazz or poetry in the twilight, set among the murmur of meerkats and the shrill calls of lemurs

"I can, with great pleasure,
report that the Wellington Zoo Trust has had an excellent year.
The highlight was the achievement of visitation numbers in excess
of 170,000 for the year. There is no doubt the increasingly vibrant
educational and conservation offerings at Wellington Zoo and our
well-cared for animals and plants are finding favour with the City’s
and region’s families." — Message from the Chair
