African Savannah now open

The new African Savannah is now open at Wellington Zoo. For the first time at the Zoo, zebras, giraffes, ostriches and antelopes will all be living together.
Tuatara released into wild

Tuatara hatched at Victoria University and raised at Wellington Zoo were released on to Long Island in Queen Charlotte Sound on 31 October.

Our sun bear cub has a name!

Thanks to everyone who voted for a name for our new sun bear cub. She is now called Sasa, which means strong in Malaysian.
