Wellington Zoo's new Wild Theatre

Wellington Zoo's Wild Theatre was officially opened by Wellington Mayor Kerry Prendergast and Pub Charity Chairman Maurice Hayes on September 13 2007.
 “The Wild Theatre is the first completed project in the Zoo’s ten year redevelopment plan endorsed by Wellington City Council in late 2006. We are so excited that construction on the Wild Theatre is complete. It means our visitors can start using the space, and that a lot of the construction fences and big trucks that have been in the Zoo in the last few months have gone,” said Karen Fifield, Wellington Zoo CEO. “The Wild Theatre is a large multi-purpose space in the middle of the Zoo and will provide respite for our visitors from the Wellington weather. In summer we’ll start using the Wild Theatre for animal programmes showcasing learning and animal conservation, so our Zoo visitors can get up close and personal to some of the more interesting animals that live in the Zoo.” “However the Wild Theatre can also be used for many other purposes, from performance space to product launches, Wellington Zoo’s Wild Theatre is an asset for all Wellingtonians.” “We wouldn’t have been able to build the Wild Theatre without the help of our donors, especially Wellington City Council and Pub Charity.
