Organisation
Structure
At the end of 2005, the Zoo undertook a management review. The
outcome was two positions disestablished
(Manager, Property and Environment and Group Leader, Learning and
Marketing) and four created.
- Manager, Marketing and Fundraising
- Manager, Learning and Interpretation
- Coordinator, Development Programme Coordinator
- Coordinator, Environmental Management Programme
To reflect the Zoo’s sharpened focus on fundraising, the
Manager Marketing and Fundraising also has overall responsibility
for fundraising – and a new assistant. To help cope with demand
for close encounter programmes, another training and conditioning
expert has joined the team.
Other
professional associations
Edy Macdonald is on the Steering Committee of the New Zealand Association
of Environmental Educators, Wellington Chapter.
Katja Geschke is a member of the registration committee of the New
Zealand Veterinary Council and a member of the New Zealand Wildlife
Health Centre.
Volunteers
The volunteer programme is extremely effective. Thirty regular
volunteers completed a total of nearly 11,500 hours over the last
year – that’s an average of 32 hours each, every month!
These hard-working people take care of a long list of essential
maintenance tasks, supporting professional staff and freeing them
for animal care duties. The Zoo is particularly grateful to this
hardworking team. |
