HOLIDAY PROGRAMME BOOKING

Wellington Zoo runs a holiday programme each school holiday break.

The programme is tailored for kids aged 5-12 years and every day, they will get to meet animals, interact with Zoo staff and go behind the scenes at the Zoo – all the while making a conservation connection!

Each day has a different focus - your kids will have fun exploring the Zoo and getting stuck into all sorts of exciting activities.

Spaces are strictly limited and subject to availability. Please book in advance to ensure you don’t miss out.

Time

Drop off times are between 8.30am and 9.00am, and pick up times are between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.

Cost

$65 per child per day, payable in advance. Please note no refunds will be issued.

Location

Wellington Zoo’s Archibald Centre, 100 metres up Manchester Street from the main Zoo entrance (first driveway on the right).

What to bring

Morning tea and lunch, a drink bottle, weather appropriate clothing, sun/wind protection, and sensible shoes.

Monday, 29 September : Zoo Keeper Apprentice

Take a walk in the boots of a Wellington Zoo Keeper and learn the skills you’ll need to be a Zoo Keeper Apprentice. Take part in some of the vital tasks keepers do to keep our animals happy and healthy.

Tuesday, 30 September : Creature Kitchen

Get ready to say "bon appetit" to some of our animals, as you go behind-the-scenes into our kitchen. Help our chefs prepare and deliver lunchboxes with delicious treats for our furry, scaly, and feathered friends.

Wednesday, 01 October : Outback Adventures

Take a walk through our Australian exhibit, ‘Neighbours'. Learn the tricks of traditional Aboriginal bush craft, and find out why our Aussie neighbours are awesome!

Thursday, 02 October : Wild Playtime!

Zoo animals love their toys! Spend a day inventing exciting new games for some of our animals, watch as they play with them, and find out how playing with toys helps keep their brains and bodies active.

Spend a little time with some big cats! Help us to get our feline friends purring as we celebrate some new animal arrivals.

Monday, 06 October : Zoo Keeper Apprentice

The Zoo's Monkeys, Chimpanzees, and Lemurs are all smart and full of energy. See if you can outwit our playful, tree-loving friends with some challenging enrichment.

Learn about the training our Zoo Keepers do with some of our amazing animals!  Meet some of our special creatures and find out why training is used in the Zoo.

Learn how the vets at The Nest Te Kohanga look after injured and sick animals. Check out hospital equipment like the x-ray machine and specimen jars. What can you do to help care for wildlife?
