HOLIDAY PROGRAMME BOOKING

Wellington Zoo runs a holiday programme each school holiday break.

The programme is tailored for kids aged 5-12 years and every day, they will get to meet animals, interact with Zoo staff and go behind the scenes at the Zoo – all the while making a conservation connection!

Each day has a different focus - your kids will have fun exploring the Zoo and getting stuck into all sorts of exciting activities.

Spaces are strictly limited and subject to availability. Please book in advance to ensure you don’t miss out.

Time

Drop off times are between 8.30am and 9.00am, and pick up times are between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.

Cost

$65 per child per day, payable in advance. Please note no refunds will be issued.

Location

Wellington Zoo’s Archibald Centre, 100 metres up Manchester Street from the main Zoo entrance (first driveway on the right).

What to bring

Morning tea and lunch, a drink bottle, weather appropriate clothing, sun/wind protection, and sensible shoes.

Monday, 06 July : Zoo Keeper Apprentice

Take a walk in the boots of a Wellington Zoo Keeper. Take part in some of the vital tasks they do to keep our animals happy and healthy. Learn some of the skills you’ll need to become a Zoo Keeper Apprentice.

Tuesday, 07 July : Fabulous Felines

We've got a lot of pride in our big and small Zoo cats. Watch a Lion feed up close, fill a piñata for a Tiger and see how much a Grassland Cat likes to hide in boxes!

Wednesday, 08 July : Hide and Seek!

Camouflage is out of sight! Learn from the hiding masters as you meet a Goliath Stick Insect and watch a Chameleon catch its lunch. Then, challenge our animals seeking abilities with a cunningly disguised treat!

Thursday, 09 July : Brainy Beasties

At Wellington Zoo, we make sure our animals have healthy minds as well as healthy bodies. Learn how we train and entertain our wildelife, then stimulate our animal brains with some clever enrichment!

Friday, 10 July : Animal Ambulance

Learn how the vets at The Nest Te Kohanga look after injured and sick animals. Examine hospital objects like the x-ray equipment and specimen jars. What can you do to help care for wildlife?
