At the New Zealand Institute of Architects Wellington Awards night on 31 October, our very own Kamala’s Pavilion won a Public Architecture award; recognising the innovative space created for visitors to enjoy.  Designed by Assembly Architects, Kamala’s has become a favourite spot – providing a versatile space for learning, food, rest, families, and functions.  

Kamala’s is named for the last elephant at Wellington Zoo, who died in 1983, and this amazing space is now at the heart of the Zoo.  Opened in September 2011, the Kamala’s Pavilion also includes the Tuck Shop café, amazing play sculptures and stunning reptile exhibits.
