The people at Wellington Zoo
Wellington Zoo is a Chartiable Trust that is primarily funded by the Wellington City Council. It employs 55 staff.
We work as a team made up of:
Keepers - who are directly responsible for looking after the animals
Veterinary and stores staff - responsible for the health of the animals, including food buying and preparation
Horticulture staff - responsible for the Zoo's botanical estate
Asset management staff - responsible for buildings and grounds, the vehicle fleet and contracts
Visitor services team - responsible for the visitors and the shop
Education team - run the Zoo School
Marketing and events - responsible for promotion of the Zoo, events and fund-raising
Administration - responsible for making sure the systems work, day-to-day financial control, records, human resources and strategic planning
There are many other people who make an invaluable contribution to the Zoo on a voluntary basis:
