Breeding Programmes at Wellington Zoo

At Wellington Zoo we are involved with managed breeding programmes and have had many notable successes. We work co-operatively with other zoos around the world through studbook keepers who are responsible for maintaining relevant data on a particular species within a programme to ensure genetic diversity.

lower risk dependent on conservation measures in order not to qualify for one of the above threat categories, or close to qualifying for vulnerable, or of least concern
